I'm not sure why Rachel Maddow thinks that it is so funny that a reporter decided to throw his shoes at the President of the United States. And whats even worse is that she seemed appalled at the fact that the guy might actually spend time in jail. What would she expect would happen to him. She came across as if she was secretly rooting the guy on and living vicariously through him. I don't know maybe it was just me.

Car Crash
The car companies are on their own for awhile. I see bankruptcy in the future. It's time for them to face the same business issues as everyone else. Let's see how they do.

Chicago
Not good news out of Chicago today. Seems like the corrupt politicians are at it again. The ties to out President Elect aren't comforting either.

It's over
The election is over and I have some after thoughts. I know that it is what it is and now it is time to get behind the guy who won. I don't agree with a lot of his proposed ideas though so it will be tough.
I was listening to the radio today and the guy was saying that we should put all the issues aside for a moment and celebrate the fact that America has overcome any prejudices that may have existed and voted for an African American for President. He said it as though there was no need for the person to be qualified for the job.
To me that is fundamentally wrong. The number one criteria should be the capability of the person. The color of the skin shouldn't be in play. If the qualified person happens to be black, that's great and if the person is white, that's great too. The good of the country is most important.
If people vote for a person only because they are black and not because the person is the best qualified it seems like a slap in the face and a step backwards for equal rights.
Just my thoughts!

Make me puke
I am very disappointed in the campaign this time. The debates sucked and I don't think John McCain is able to connect with the people like he needs to. I hope I'm wrong but it doesn't look good right now. The days are short and I'm not seeing the bulldog coming out in the candidate.
I liked what Obama said when he suggested that the remainder of the campaign be spent actually discussing the issues. It would have been refreshing if the two of them would have really done that and scheduled additional debates or town hall meetings (real ones) to prove that really do want to get their messages out. Instead we will have another two weeks of the one sided sound bite campaign adds that cannot be believed.

Politics is anoying me
I am fed up with the politics as usual. This election was advertised as being different. I call BS on that. It's no different than past elections. Once again the average everyday Joe is watching as both sides let their extreme talking heads perform under the media circus tent. It's frustrating and anoying and I for once am sick of it.

Soccer Update
My soccer team is looking pretty good. I always hate to speak to soon on things like this because it always seems to backfire but I think they will be pretty good. I have still not had a practice with everyone there due to vacations and various things but things seem to be good. But as they say the proof is in the putting so we will see what happens when we play our first game.

Truth?
We are taught at a young age that to tell the truth is the right thing to do. We learn as we get older that we don't share more of the truth than need be. This became clear to me recently with a bad issue with some long time friends. Over the years there have been differences of opinion that were never shared and rightly shouldn't have been. Well ,in the heat of an unforeseen disagreement on a smaller issue, all of things of the past came out in full force leaving nothing unsaid. Another thing that I have learned is that most people can't handle the real truth and the end to this story is probably clear to you now.

Broken Record
Another tournament come and gone. Baseball is all that's going on right now. I know it's only an excuse but hey, I'm tired. Maybe in a few weeks I can write something that's really worth reading.......maybe.

Back In Action
All good things must come to an end. Vacation is over and I'm headed back to work. Sucks but it is what it is. I'm sure I'll get back into the swing of things and everything will be cool. New picture of the month. Check it out.

A Day Late
No excuses, i forgot yesterday to pay me respects to the troops who have kept us safe and free for so many years. I thought it was better late than never. Thanks to all of you. Just the privilege of writing freely on my blog is a reminder of the freedom that you have enabled. The troops lost are not in vain. They gave and still give their lives for a way of life that we sometimes take for granted. I for one appreciate you and thank God for your bravery and courage!

Unpredictable
It's amazing how you can be surprised by peoples opinions. People that you really thought you knew. Their reality can be so different from your own. You think that you are really in tune with what they think and then suddenly surprised to find out you were completely wrong. It proves to me that most relationships with friends aren't really that deep. You only skim the surface of what they are really made of. When you really think about it most conversations that you have with friends are only skin deep. I know I'm rambling on but there is a point here somewhere.

Geekin out
I have recently registered with Twitter. I am still getting the hang of it and adding some new followers. I typically can't update during the day so I am sporadically updating at night. My tweats aren't that interesting but I have had a few people follow me. I have added some people whose profession deals with things that I am interested in and it is neat to see their activities as the happen during their workday.

Sad State Of Affairs
Keep your guard up. I had another example proving that you can't trust anyone. It's sad but true. Oh well, just another reminder to always be skeptical.

The Wizard Of Oz
I went to my home town class play last weekend. As always it was fun. It is amazing how some of the kids are natural talents and really do a great job. Even the ones that aren't naturals have a way of adding a special touch to the presentation. It was obvious how hard some of them had worked to do the very best they could. Props done on a shoestring budget did their best to make you feel like you were in Oz. The girl that played Dorthy was very good and stole the show. It was an enjoyable way to spend a Saturday night and I'm glad I went.

Blast From The Past
I went to the local high school class play tonight. It was a blast from the past. It was enjoyable and also obvious the amount of work that the kids had put into it. Like usual there were the few kids that have an amazing amount of talent. Then there were the kids who were just as fun to watch because what they lacked in raw talent they made up for with humor and determination. The whole production was done on a shoestring budget but creativity made up for the lack of funds. It was a good time and a change of pace from the same old same old.

Dropping like a rock
Man, one loss can kill ya. Reds lost today and are 4-3. This moved them into a tie for third.

Back in action
I know it's been forever but I've been busy. I am back to work after back surgery and I am having trouble adjusting again. I will be more regular now with my posts. (hopefully) Oh, and I also am on Twitter now and I will figure out how to get my twitter feed on the blog. Later......

Long time no post
Sorry I haven't posted for awhile. I was trying to get well after back surgery and I started back to work two weeks ago. I started working half days at the recommendation of my surgeon. I have the the two weeks of half days and next week I will resume a regular work schedule. It will be tough. I am standing at work now because it is easier on the back but my legs are tired by the end of the day. I guess I will get used to it after awhile. I have also had time to study the political climate and I will have some things to say about that.

Superdelagates?
What the heck is this. I don't fully understand a Superdelegate but from what I have read, it's a bunch of crap. Even though a party leader may be better informed and may make a more educated decision, it's just not the way it works. Our system is our system and it sounds like the Superdelegate concept was devised and implemented at a time when party leaders felt that they needed to have more say in who the party nominee would be. The concept would allow certain party leaders to decide or override the decision of the people and influence the delegate votes. No way! Even though, unfortunately enough, the general public is not very well informed of the true person behind who they see on the TV. Even with that being said it is still the way our system works. Our responsibility then becomes trying to get as many people involved as we can. The solution is not to put the power of the decision in the hands of a few powerful people. Just my thought.

Super Tuesday
An exciting day in politics. It seems to be close on both sides of the partisan fence. It is still amazing to me that there is such a divide between the two parties but I have come to accept it. People are very attached to their ideals and not willing to give much. I found out just how much the other day when a friend called me after listening to Neal Boortz on the radio. Knowing that I listen to him regularly, the friend started by asking if I listen to Neal Boortz. After admitting that I did I was read the riot act about something that he said. We proceeded to get into a huge argument about things in general. It ended on a very bad note and we haven't discussed it since.
I know that you are not supposed to talk about politics with friends. It's a dangerous proposition. What a shame though because without discussion nothing will ever get resolved. The politicians are not much better than the average Joe when it comes to constructively discussing political topics. So things move slowly along with no real progress. I guess it's the nature of the beast.

A Super Super Bowl
The Super Bowl this year was awesome. I didn't really care who won but it was fun to see the underdog do so well and even win the game. This had to be one of the closest Super Bowls in history. It went down to the end and the last drive was unbelievable. I'm glad that I was able to see it.

The Stage Is Set
We know who the players are. It was no surprise with the Patriots winning. The other game by contrast though was up for grabs. I was split on who I was rooting for. Either way it would make a good story for the the two weeks leading up to the Super Bowl. With the Packers winning you had the story about an old guy who can still play the game with the young guys. Favre is truly amazing. With the Giants you had the wrong Manning in the Super Bowl. The big brother was supposed to be there but the little brother came out of nowhere. Regardless, I thought all along that this game might end up being better than the Super Bowl and I may have been right because went down to the wire and even into overtime. The little Manning will be going but he is up against what seems to be an insurmountable opponent in Brady and the Patriots. I guess you never know though and that is why they play every game.

Who da thunk it
Two unsuspected teams will play in the divisional championships this year. The New York Giants an the San Diego Chargers, both underdogs last weekend, beat teams they weren't supposed to beat. I liked watching it though. It made for some good football and I always like seeing the underdog win. Next weekend should be interesting too.

The better team won
It was obvious to me last night that Ohio State was not the better team. LSU outplayed the Buckeyes without question and proved that they had a better game plan and they were physically better. OSU's offensive line was overwhelmed and didn't give Boeckman enough time to be effective. LSU also had the Buckeyes bewildered on deffense. How many times did we see a n LSU receiver wide open while OSU's defense was on the wrong side of the field. It was a let down and smelled a lot like last years game. Overall however, OSU had a great season with only two losses. On the bright side the prospects for next year might be even better than this one.

Waiting no more
Well, tonight is the night. We get to see if Ohio State can redeem themselves after last year. The big cheer after the first play of last years game was followed by an agonizing game and a terrible loss. Hopefully this year they will come ready to play and take the championship.

Bowl Games
It is hard to find a good bowl game. The ones I watched yesterday were not very good games. I guess they were good for the winners but not so good for the viewers. I just want to see some good games. I am watching the Fiesta bowl now and it's not close at the half. I hope it gets better. Oh well, they are only a prelude anyway. The big one is coming up on the 6th. GO BUCKS!!
