Oh No!
labor unions own the majority of Chrysler and the Government owns the majority of GM. This can't be a good indicator of things to come.

Tax At Will
With the AIG thing steeling all the headlines right now I started thinking. Congress has been quick to respond to the bonuses that were paid to some at AIG. From what I can tell these bonus payments were already in place before the bill was approved. It seems that congress, who rushed this bill through without reading it, is to blame.
Then to make things worse they say they will tax the bonuses at 90%. They can do this just because they want to? I'm not sure I am comfortable with the government being able to tax at will whenever they want at at whatever rate they want. Especially when it's because of something they had a hand in.

A post for March
I wanted to make sure that I got at least one post in for March. I have just been too busy and by the time I sit down the energy isn't there. Happy St. Patrick's Day.

Little Hope
I lose more hope daily that the people voted into office have any clue as to how to get us out of the economic crisis we are in. I am beginning to think that they don't want it be over. I think they are encouraged by the fact that the government is growing and increasing it's influence over the people. It's an elitist attitude, one that says they know better than we do and will take care of us. We don't want to be taken care of. We want the government to stay out of the way so we can take care of ourselves.
When will they get it?
When will they get it?

Talkin with the Senator
Here is the contents of an email that I sent to my senators:
Dear Senator,
I am writing you to ask a big favor. Please vote no on the economic stimulus bill. I have read portions of the bill and I do not see how these types of spending programs can be good for our economy. We have always been taught that if you are in financial trouble, you need to rein in spending. That is what most Americans are trying to do right now. Why should our government do the exact opposite by spending billions that we don't have. I might think differently if the programs described in the bill seemed like logical steps to create true stimulus, immediately. They don't. They seem like programs that have been waiting in the wings for an opportunity like this.
I have also been paying attention to some of the debating going on in the senate. It is obvious that there is not a clear majority on this. The vote is still too close and Democrats are trying to get a few Republicans to give them the 60 votes they need. With that in mind it doesn’t seem like there is overwhelming agreement that this bill is a good thing. It sound more like the same old partisan politics.
Please do all you can by either opposing the bill as it is currently proposed or work to get it changed to something that really achieves economic stimulus.
Thank you for considering my opinions and for your hard work.

Happy New Year
I'm back. After the Holiday break it's time to get back at it. A big year ahead, hopefully, already a lot of things going on. Selling senate seats, cabinet appointments going bad, Franken in potlitics, bailouts galore, who knows what else will happen. Fasten your seatbelt and hang on.
